Abraham Lincoln 's The Emancipation Proclamation, 1863
frame (Two Sheets)
President Abraham
Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863,
as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war.
The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves"
within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be
free. Although the Emancipation Proclamation did not immediately
free a single slave, it captured the hearts and imagination
of millions of African Americans, and fundamentally transformed
the character of the war from a war for the Union into a war
for freedom. " All
documents are reproduced on special fine paper that have a mottled
finish and varied surface similar to that of the genuine documents
of history. The documents are manufactured from cellulose fibers
with sulfuric acid to enhanced the look and feel of the original.
In addition, they are treated with sulphite pulp so the "old-antiqued"
look is apparent. Browse our law gift store and you will find
